Private School Admission Process

The private school admission process begins in August, when most families begin their school search.  Although IPA offers rolling admission, grades do fill up, so it is advisable to choose your top schools in advance.

HAIS School Fairs are held in September, in three locations around the island.  More information on the School Fairs can be found at hais.org.  Most private schools hold an open house in October.  If you cannot attend the ISLAND PACIFIC ACADEMY Open House on October 17, please consider joining one of our weekly tours.  Tours are held for grades K-5 and 6-12 on alternating Thursdays at 8:30am.  Please contact the Admission Office to register for the fall Open House or any of the weekly tour dates.

Once you have decided to apply for admission to ISLAND PACIFIC ACADEMY, please submit an Application for Admission along with your child’s most recent transcripts, birth certificate, wallet-sized photograph (optional), and application fee of $65.  In addition, Teacher Reference Reports and transcript requests should be submitted to your child’s previous school.

IPA requires that students in grades 5 and higher take the Secondary School Admission Test.  The SSAT is administered at IPA in December, January, February, and March and is offered at other schools around the island at different times.  Please visit ssat.org to register for the SSAT.

All candidates are considered based on their application, Teacher Reference Reports, grades, standardized test scores, and group or individual assessment.

Admissions decisions will be communicated by mail on March 30 for grades 6-12 and April 30 for grades K-5.  Mid-year applicants will receive an admissions decision within one week of the school visit.

The deadline for financial aid applications is February 15.  Financial aid award letters will be mailed with enrollment contracts and should be returned with the enrollment contract and deposit.  For more information on financial aid, please visit the Tuition and Financial Aid page of our website, islandpacificacademy.org.

Students who have completed the enrollment process by returning a signed contract and deposit will be contacted by faculty department heads for course selection and will receive Back to School packets at the end of June.  New Student Orientation and a New Parent Reception are held in August.

Deciding which private school is the best fit for your family is a lengthy process.  The Admission Office at IPA is available for support throughout.  Please feel free to contact us for more information.
