Support IPA: Box Tops

Found on literally hundreds of groceries and products, BOX TOPS are little coupons worth 10-cents and offer an easy way to support Island Pacific Academy.  The Box Tops for Education fundraising program can really add up because the coupons come on groceries and other products that most people already buy.  One Box Top looks like this:

But when you see a Box Top, you should “see” it like this:

US Dime
Close up of a United States dime which has a value of 10-cents.

And when many Box Tops are turned in to the school…

…it’s the same as having a large collection of dimes brought in.

An assortment of dimes.

Twice each year Island Pacific Academy gets a check for the amount of  Box Tops submitted.  Just by clipping out and turning in Box Tops, our students and families have raised thousands of dollars for IPA over the years.

GIANT CHECK
The General Mills company issues checks to the school for all the Box Tops.

Every year, IPA has parent volunteers helping with the Box Tops effort (cleaning up the edges on each one, checking expiration dates, counting and bagging for shipping).  And, for many years, a dedicated and enthusiastic parent has become a Box Tops “ambassador” for the school encouraging our students to spot and collect them.

The current Box Tops ambassador, “Mrs. Box Tops,” is IPA mom Cindy Spreg who has three children attending the school.   She admits that she is “tickled pink” to be Mrs. Box Tops and dresses the part once a month to appear at the Elementary Assembly.

Mrs Box Tops x3
The moms behind the Box Tops effort at IPA are Sharon Nakamura who clips and counts all of the Box Tops received and Cindy Spreg as the current “Mrs. Box Tops.” Before the Nakamura and Spreg team, IPA parent Dee Paz filled the role of Mrs. Box Tops also dressing the part with a hat, dress, and purse.  Paz’s pink purse was handed down to the current Mrs. Box Tops.

At an Elementary Monday Assembly each month, Mrs. Box Tops announces the student with the highest number of box tops turned in for that month; the student is recognized and has the honor of pulling another student’s name out of the  Box Tops Bucket. These two lucky students get to have lunch with Elementary Principal, Steve Ross, and share their ideas.

Secondary Division students can pick up a name slip from the main Administrative or third floor office and turn in Box Tops too. Recognition is given for grades 6-8 and 9-12 at respective town halls.

So, remember to keep on CLIPPING OUT BOX TOPS.
