Uniform Update for 2015-2016

An Aloha shirt featuring IPA’s first custom fabric will make its debut this school year as a uniform choice for students.  Other new items include PE shirts made of performance dri-fit material, lined PE shorts, and a lightweight sweatshirt for students who want or need just a little extra warmth without bulk.

aloha_shirtIPA’s aloha print incorporates the school’s shield and a wa’a to represent “Navigators.”  The hibiscus’ stamen, style, and stigma spell out the school’s motto Imua Me Ka Ha’aheo.

Our local uniform vendor, Kula Threads, has an assortment of tops (in white and navy) and bottoms making the IPA uniform requirement easy for students and kind to parents’ pocketbooks.  By mixing and matching pieces, all students can find combinations of the uniform that suit their tastes.  All uniform ordering is done online with Kula Threads.  Samples are available in the main office of all uniform pieces and may be tried on by students to check for size.  A limited supply of some uniform items will also be available for purchase in the Campus Store (first floor, main building) once the school year begins.

All students grades K-12 must have at least one combination of the official uniform which consists of khaki bottoms (skirts, shorts or slacks) and a navy polo shirt with the school’s crest. Secondary students are required to have at least one set of IPA’s official PE clothes; wearing IPA’s PE clothes is optional, but highly recommended, for grade 5 students as well.  A navy t-shirt will be issued to each student at the beginning of the school year to wear on field trips with a khaki bottom.

Once reaching the secondary grades, more options for uniform tops are introduced.  In addition to the outerwear available from Kula Threads, students in grades 6-12 have the option of wearing a college sweatshirt displaying an authentic college or university name or logo.  Many clubs and organizations in the secondary division have t-shirts for their group.  Class year t-shirts are also a tradition at IPA with students submitting the designs for each class and voting on the winners each year.

Throughout the year, all students have opportunities for “free dress” as well as themed dress days during spirit week in both divisions.
For more information about IPA’s uniform policy and dress code requirements, students and parents should reference the Primary Handbook (grades K-5) or Secondary Handbook (grades 6-12).
