On May 31, 2024, we were thrilled to host ISLAND PACIFIC ACADEMY’s 16th Annual Golf Tournament at the picturesque Hawaiʻi Prince Golf Club, presented by First Hawaiian Bank and Domino’s Hawaiʻi. The tournament was also supported by numerous generous sponsors. This year’s event saw an impressive turnout with 192 enthusiastic golfers, making it our fourth consecutive year of a sold-out tournament. The event, orchestrated by tournament committee chairs Lance Wilhelm, Cheryl Walthall, Melanie Kim, Darian Chun, George Denise, Shaun Dela-Calzada, Laycee Pasion, and Matt Trevino, raised over $100,000 to support our Tuition Aid program! It was our most successful event to date.
Known for its outstanding hospitality, the tournament featured numerous food and beverage stations throughout the course, ensuring golfers were well-hydrated and satisfied. Culinary delights from Kapakahi Grindz, Salo Salo, Superb Sushi, and Taqueria El Ranchero, just to name a few, dotted the course. A perennial favorite, IPA’s Alumni and Parent-Teacher Association, provided custom drinks and enthusiastic support for the players. Additional hospitality tents by Hana Koa Brewing Company, RNDC, and our exclusive water sponsor, Blue Hawaiʻi Purified Water, kept everyone hydrated. Golfers enjoyed a range of pre-tournament and on-course activities, including a putting contest and a thrilling chance to win a $40,000 kitchen and bath remodel from American Floor and Home with a hole-in-one on a par 3. And every golfer received a swag bag valued at more than $300!
In keeping with tradition, the top three teams, along with the teams finishing in 16th place (celebrating the 16th tournament) and last place, received special recognition and prizes. Congratulations to the winning team from Matson, whose names will be engraved on the IPA Golf Tournament perpetual trophy. The teams from Swinerton and The Zelinsky Company secured second and third places, respectively. Kai Hawaiʻi proudly claimed the 16th place, while CBRE had the distinction of highest score.
After the tournament, golfers enjoyed a grab-and-go bento dinner and a plethora of fantastic prizes, including four Lucky Number Grand Prizes, including a two-night stay at the California Hotel & Casino plus 150,000 HawaiianMiles, and a five-night stay at The Oasis in Palm Springs plus 20,000 HawaiianMiles. Every participant left with a prize, ranging from rounds of golf at Hoakalei Country Club to a 44” Samsung LCD TV to Wai Kai Aqua Adventure passes.
