Lunch
What's in Your Lunchbox?
Eating healthy helps set the stage for healthy learning. When students are provided with healthy snacks, a nutritious lunch, and stay hydrated throughout the day they are better equipped for physical activity; and–most important for school–their brains are supplied with fuel for the academic day. (Learn more, Feeding the Brain for Academic Success: How Nutrition and Hydration Boost Learning.)
ISLAND PACIFIC ACADEMY expects that all students will eat a nutritious lunch each day. Students have two (2) lunch options: bringing lunch from home and/or signing up with the school’s caterers, Keiki Gourmet, Panda Express, Hacienda Morelos, or Subway. Details about the school’s caterers are listed below and are available in both the Elementary and Secondary Offices.
Grades K-5 students eat lunch outside at designated areas or in the multi-purpose room, while Grades 6-12 students have lunch periods and may eat lunch in the multi-purpose room, at tables on the lanai, or at designated club or society meetings.
For all lunches and snacks brought from home, the school asks not to include the following items: candy, soda pop, energy drinks, and other foods or drinks with high sugar/low food value. Involve your student in grocery shopping, preparing meals, and packing lunches as his/her age allows. Feel free to reference the following sites for guidelines and ideas for packing a healthy lunch:
