After School Enrichment Program
After School Enrichment (ASE) courses are the perfect way for students to learn a new skill, dive deeper into an area of interest, or challenge themselves by exploring a subject outside their “comfort zone.”
Fun and interesting activities in each course encourage students to use and build upon their growing knowledge base. Students can select one or more courses to create a schedule that suits their needs and fulfills their passion for learning.
Fall 2023
The following enrichment classes will be offered after school this fall. Register for your child’s class(es) through the online registration form. Please submit a new form for each child.
Bricks for Kidz and Karate are not included in the online registration. You must register with them directly for those classes. Please follow the contact information below their class description to register.
Registration closes September 4, 2023.
A confirmation email for your registration will be sent out before September 6, 2023.
An invoice for your registration will be emailed to you. Payment must be made by September 8, 2023. If payment isn’t received by the deadline, your child will be removed from list for the Enrichment class.

Ready, Set, Draw (Grades 1-2)
Time: 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Location: Elementary Room 210

Drawing is fun! The more we practice the better we get. In this class we will practice, practice, practice. Students will listen to a story for inspiration, complete a how to draw lesson, add details, and color. Each week will be a fun new story and drawing.
E-Sports Clinic (Grades 3-6)
Time: 3:15 PM – 4:15 PM

E-sports takes video gaming to another level with organized competitive gameplay between two teams, governed by its own strict set of rules and guidelines. It demands critical thinking, communication, teamwork, and creativity in order for students to succeed.
*Due to Grade 6 dismissal time – if your child is in Grades 3-5 an Extended Day staff member will take your child to the E-Sports Clinic by 3:15 PM.
*Fee includes use of Nintendo Switches for the class. Your child is welcome to bring in the personal Switch.
Beginning Soccer (Grades K-5)

Are you interested in playing soccer? Come join us! This class will be an introduction to soccer. We will cover all the basic skills (dribbling, passing, shooting, trapping, etc.) and rules of the game. Hope to see you out there!
No experience necessary. A water bottle and covered shoes are required. No special
equipment is needed.
Karate (Grades K-5)

Come study the traditional Japanese Karate. In forms (kata), kumite (sparring and fighting skills) & kubodo (weaponry katas). Also development in body coordination, balance, stamina and overall good health for the mind and body. With the goal of development of self-discipline & respect. Classes are designed to let each child develop at their own pace, but with encouragement to strive to do their best. No experience needed to join.

Clay Studio (Grades 3-5)

Experience the magic of the clay! In this hands-on class, we explore the hand building techniques of coil, pinch, and slab, abstract work; various textured applications in exciting projects that nurture children’s creativity; and wheel throwing. Each week, students will create pieces in three dimensional arts, such as animals, masks and more! These projects make great bases for children’s personal visions and allow them to play with art concepts including symmetry, texture and patterns. Working with clay helps children develop coordination and concentration while teaching them how to transform ideas into creative expressions. As the class proceeds they will be gaining knowledge about ceramic materials, glazes and firings.

Choir (Grades K-5)

Do you enjoy singing? Come and join IPA’s Elementary Choir where we can bring out the best in our singers and encourage musical growth. Choir students will learn vocal skills in unison and 2-part arrangements focusing on breath support, diction, poise, posture, and presentation. Our repertoire consists of Holiday music. Our choir and the ʻukulele ensemble will join together to build confidence and perform for your enjoyment with the possibility of a public venue.
Ukulele Ensemble (Grades 3-5)

Letʻs JAM together! No experience necessary. ʻUkulele students will experience basic skills (chords, posture, rhythm, and strumming.) Our repertoire will consist of Holiday music. Our choir and the ʻukulele ensemble will join together to build confidence and perform for your enjoyment with the possibility of a public venue.
Ukulele Ensemble (Grades 6-12)

Students will learn basic fundamental chords, picking and strumming techniques. Students will also build a repertoire in traditional Hawaiian and contemporary songs. Students may bring their own ukulele to class, however, it is not necessary as we can loan them ‘ukulele.
Kumu Bobo is a gifted singer of traditional Hawaiian music; over the last several years he has performed extensively in the U.S. and Japan, taking the Aloha Spirit wherever he goes. An ambassador of Aloha, Kumu Bobo has performed and taught ʻukulele over the past 17 years at his former residence in Santa Cruz, CA and throughout the West Coast. He has since moved back home to Waialua, Hawaii and is excited to begin teaching ‘ukulele right here at IPA.
STEM Fun (Grades 2-3)

S.T.E.M. Fun is a project based class where students use their imagination and critical thinking to build and create! Students are encouraged to build a wide range of exciting projects using mainly recyclable materials. Students will work both individually and collaboratively to learn about the engineering design process through planning, testing, and modifying their projects. Learning takes place in and out of the classroom (on campus), allowing the students to test their building skills in a variety of situations. Throughout the session your child will be bringing home their projects, inspiring many children to continue their building at home. Come and build with us!

Let’s Get Art-ie! (Grades 3-5)

After School Art where YOU are an ARTIST! Students will explore the creative process, develop their artistic skills, and experiment with a variety of supplies through engaging projects. There is a focus on student creativity, mindfulness, and the power of art.
Keyboard Ensemble (Grades 1-5) – Limited availability

Interested in “tickling the ivories” and the opportunity to play on IPAʻs grand piano? Our students will be introduced to basic keyboard skills of ear training, note reading, rhythm, and music theory. Students will require at least a 60+, full-sized key keyboard (each key is the same size as the standard, acoustic piano key) as home practice is a requirement. Grades 1-2 will start on the classroom keyboards while Grades 3-5 will work on basic theory lessons and the groups will switch. Students will be asked to purchase a lesson and theory piano book. This program is designed to be ongoing and for beginners.
*Only 5 spaces in each group will be available.
Hula (Grades K-5)
Time: 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM

E hula kākou! Let’s dance! Join us for hula every Thursday as Kumu Momi helps you to build and strengthen a foundation of hula basics and develop a love of hula and Hawaiian culture. We welcome girls and boys to join us in learning hula, oli (chant), mele (song), and more this semester. Students will need a paʻu skirt to wear during papa hula (hula class). In place of a regular class, a tentative hoʻike will be held for participantsʻ families (presentation to show what students have learned) on the last day of hula.
MMA Fit (Grades 1-5)
Time: 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Location: Meet in Elementary Room 205 then proceed to the field

Mixed Martial Arts Fitness will be a focus on physical exercise that implement different martial arts movements (Ex. punching, kicking, footwork, calisthenics). Along with the physical development aspect, students will gain knowledge and exposure to different types of cultures and traditional practices involving specific styles. The program does not include physical contact between students. No sparring is allowed or encouraged in class. Mr. Hata has been practicing MMA techniques since 2005 and he is very excited to share his passion and skills with the students at IPA! A waiver for this class is required before participating.
*Please have a change of clothes so your child can be in comfortable clothes and tennis shoes during class.
*Student’s will need to purchase 4oz – 8oz boxing gloves before the first day of class.
Creative Drama (Grades K-1)

This class will encourage creativity, self-expression, communication, empathy for others and social relationships. Dramatic activities can include pantomime, creative movement, creative drama, storytelling, choral speaking, story drama, reader’s theatre, theatre games, puppetry and musical theatre. Students will be combined with Grades K-1 for the first hour (3 PM – 4 PM), from 4 PM – 5PM it will be only Grades 2-5.

Intermediate Soccer (Grades 2-5)

Have you played organized soccer? If you enjoy playing soccer and have some experience, this class is for you! This class will be spent brushing up on your soccer skills to take them to the next level!
*If your child does not meet the requirements below they may be moved to Monday’s beginner Soccer session instead.
*Must have participated in at least two seasons of organized soccer. A water bottle and covered shoes are required. No special equipment is needed.
Bricks 4 Kidz (Grades 1-4)

Designed and created by teachers, architects, and engineering professionals, the Engineering Adventures After School curriculum by BRICKS 4 KIDZ® introduces kids to concepts of engineering, coding, architecture, and mechanics using LEGO®!
Students will develop problem solving and critical thinking skills. Instructional content is multi-disciplinary and designed by educators to increase the student’s general knowledge and introduce STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) concepts while building our models. The Bricks 4 Kidz® approach to learning is imaginative, multi-sensory and fun!
