POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Head of School, the Director of Finance is responsible for management of the financial activities of the organization, including financial analysis and planning, accounting operations and reporting, budgeting and external audits. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Fiscal Responsibility
- Provides strategic recommendations to the Head of School and Board of Trustees based on financial analysis and projections, cost identification and allocation, and revenue/expense analysis.
- Collaborates with Head of School and Board of Trustees to establish and implement long-range priorities and strategic plans for operations and capital expenditures of the organization.
- Prepares and presents the annual budget, capital improvement plan, and monthly reporting to the Finance Committee and Board of Directors.
- Maintains, monitors, and documents necessary changes to established internal controls and policies to ensure safeguarding of assets.
- Monitors and reports spending within the approved budget and spend policies.
Budget & Financial Management
- Manages all aspects of the school’s accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and general ledger.
- Ensures timely and accurate monthly financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles with budget variance explanation.
- Prepares recurring and ad hoc financial reports and analyses (including but not limited to cash flow analyses, pro formas and re-forecasting) to facilitate decision making.
- Manages financial aid budget and communicates with Head of School and Board of Trustees about financial aid budget, policies and trends.
- Functions as the lead contact for all audit and tax fieldwork. Prepares and maintains all schedules, financial statements and footnotes for annual audit.
- Manage and comply with local, state and federal government regulatory reporting requirements and tax filings including the preparation of the 990 and General Excise Tax filings.
- Develops and maintains relationships with outside accounting firm(s), banks and lessors, casualty/liability insurance agent(s), credit card companies, and other outside vendors/ agencies.
- Keeps educated of changes in regulations and legislation that impact school operations in the area of accounting and investments.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Provides daily management of business office staff and consultants, including establishing annual goals (to support overall goals established in the finance plan), providing regular performance reviews and appropriate recognition, and supporting ongoing professional development opportunities.
- Reviews priorities and workload with finance staff and consultants.
- Applies managerial oversight on work results and takes corrective action as necessary.

- Minimum 10+ years of accounting and finance experience; working in an independent school or non-profit setting preferred.
- Strong background in investing and cash management.
- CPA license preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of GAAP, and standard industry policies and procedures.

- Experience leading general ledger functions and timely month-end/year-end processes.

POSITION OVERVIEW
ISLAND PACIFIC ACADEMY (IPA) is seeking an innovative and skilled Elementary K–5 STEM Teacher to lead a project-based STEM program that engages students in authentic, hands-on learning. This educator will design and facilitate interdisciplinary STEM projects that emphasize inquiry, real-world problem solving, collaboration, and student agency.
The K–5 STEM Teacher is responsible for developing and delivering high-quality, Project-Based Learning (PBL) experiences that integrate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The role supports a cohesive, vertically aligned elementary STEM program and works collaboratively with classroom teachers to strengthen interdisciplinary learning.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and teach PBL-centered STEM units for grades K–5.

- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, a STEM field, or a related discipline.
- Experience teaching or facilitating Project-Based Learning with elementary students.
- Strong understanding of inquiry-based, hands-on STEM instruction.
- Comfort integrating technology and materials into learning experiences.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
- Teaching credential or progress toward licensure.
