After School Enrichment Program

After School Enrichment (ASE) courses are the perfect way for students to learn a new skill, dive deeper into an area of interest, or challenge themselves by exploring a subject outside their “comfort zone.”

Fun and interesting activities in each course encourage students to use and build upon their growing knowledge base. Students can select one or more courses to create a schedule that suits their needs and fulfills their passion for learning.

Fall 2024

We are excited to offer a variety of enrichment classes after school. To register, please use our new CAMPBRAIN platform. If you already have an account, simply log in and select “Fall Enrichment 2024” to see the available classes for the fall.

Payment must be made at the time of registration through CAMPBRAIN. If payment isn’t received, your child will be removed from list for the enrichment class. Please note that payment plans are not available for enrichment classes, and refunds cannot be issued after payment is made.

Registration opens on Friday, August 23, 2024, and closes on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.

Karate is not included in the online registration. You must register with Sensei Billy directly for those classes. Please follow the contact information below their class description to register.

There is a limited number of spaces in each class. Enrollment is done on a first-come, first-served basis. Classes will automatically close when the class is full. A minimum of 12 students is needed for class to run. Classes may be canceled due to insufficient enrollment. If a class is canceled, parents will be notified by email and phone call. There are no refunds or proration of tuition after registration.
 
Classes are not scheduled during school holidays, breaks, early dismissal days or parent teacher conferences.

Draw and Explore (Grades 1-2)

Draw and Explore is a class where students can improve their drawing skills through practice. Each session includes time to learn techniques and then explore their own creativity. It’s a fun way to grow as an artist!



Hula (Grades K-5)

E hula kākou! Let’s dance! Join us for hula every Monday as Kumu Momi helps you to build and strengthen a foundation of hula basics and develop a love of hula and Hawaiian culture. We welcome girls and boys to join us in learning hula, oli (chant), mele (song), and more this semester. Students will need a paʻu skirt to wear during papa hula (hula class). In place of a regular class, a tentative hoʻike will be held for participant’s families (presentation to show what students have learned) on the last day of hula.



Blast Off! (Grades 3-6)

Students in 3rd to 5th grade are invited to join our very first rocketry enrichment. Students will join Mrs. Thurman in building a Wizard rocket from the Estes model rocket line. They’ll have an opportunity to personalize its design with color, and, if desired, will launch it at the end of the session. Students will practice safety in science, direction following, measurement, and will learn about the concepts of physics involved in rocketry. Blast Off! is an exciting hands-on project that inspires students to reach for the stars!

Come study the traditional Japanese Karate. In forms (kata), kumite (sparring and fighting skills) & kubodo (weaponry katas). Also development in body coordination, balance, stamina and overall good health for the mind and body. With the goal of development of self-discipline & respect. Classes are designed to let each child develop at their own pace, but with encouragement to strive to do their best. No experience needed to join.

App Makers (Grades 6-8)

Unleash your creativity and dive into the world of coding in our new MS App Makers enrichment course. In this course, you’ll learn to use Python Turtle to build your very own apps and games. Python Turtle is a fun and approachable way to start programming, allowing you to draw shapes, create animations, and bring your digital ideas to life. Perfect for beginners and young tech enthusiasts eager to make their mark in the world of programming!



Essay Prep (Grades 9-12)

Prepare for college applications with our College Essay Prep workshop, tailored for high school students of all levels. In this program, you’ll learn the importance of the college essay and how to craft a compelling personal statement that stands out. We’ll focus on polishing your writing skills, from brainstorming to final drafts, and you’ll receive personalized feedback from the instructor to ensure your essay is strong and authentic. This workshop is a valuable step toward making your college application shine!



Chess (Grades K-2)

Join our Chess class to sharpen your mind and have fun! In this class, students will learn key chess strategies and tactics through engaging lessons. IPA Elementary Choir are looking for singers and actors who enjoy spreading Christmas Cheer during the holiday season. Come and join us as we bring a mini-musical, “The Littlest Reindeer,” to our stage. The cast of characters are Elves, the famous Reindeer, Santa, Mrs. Claus and a chorus of Toys. Students will learn vocal health, stage presence, ear training, and tone development. Get into the holiday spirit and sing with us.

**It’s Christmas at the North Pole and all of the citizens are getting ready for Santa’s annual ‘round the world jaunt. All of the usual characters are there- the toys, the elves, the reindeer, Santa, Mrs. Claus and a new character who is the star and hero of this little musical. It’s the Littlest Reindeer! And the Littlest Reindeer has been told that this is her/his chance to finally join the team and help Santa deliver toys all over the world. Everyone is skeptical that such a little critter could possibly be of much use on such a demanding and important adventure, but through the course of the musical, all are made aware that everybody has something to offer in the quest to make Christmas magic really come true. Throughout the fun and drama, cast and audience are reminded of the special gift that is inside each and everyone of us; the special gift we celebrate at this most wonderful time of the year!



Ceramics (Grades 3-7)

Experience the magic of the clay! In this hands-on class, we explore the hand building techniques of coil, pinch, and slab, abstract work; various textured applications in exciting projects that nurture children’s creativity; and wheel throwing. Each week, students will create pieces in three dimensional arts, such as animals, masks and more! These projects make great bases for children’s personal visions and allow them to play with art concepts including symmetry, texture and patterns. Working with clay helps children develop coordination and concentration while teaching them how to transform ideas into creative expressions. As the class proceeds they will be gaining knowledge about ceramic materials, glazes and firings.

Kitchen Science (Grades 3-5)

Get ready for sizzling scientific wonders in the “Kitchen Science Lab!” – where students transform into mad scientists in the kitchen! In this mind-blowing adventure, we’re turning everyday kitchen supplies into the ingredients for jaw-dropping experiments! From fizzy concoctions to crystal creations, physics in motion to the magic of life science – there’s no limit to the excitement.



DJ Basics (Grades 4-8)

This class offers students an exciting introduction to the world of DJ’ing, where they’ll learn the essential skills needed to start their journey as a DJ. The course covers the basics of mixing, beat matching, and understanding different music genres, giving students a solid foundation in the art of DJ’ing.

Through a combination of hands-on activities and interactive lessons, students will explore the techniques DJs use to create seamless music mixes and perform live. Whether they’re interested in creating their own playlists or performing for an audience, this class will equip them with the foundational knowledge and skills to start their DJ journey with confidence.



Chinese Festival Fun (Grades 2-5)

In this engaging class, children will embark on a cultural journey as they explore the vibrant and diverse world of Chinese festivals. Through a variety of activities, including art, poetry, music, crafts, and storytelling students will not only learn about the customs and traditions of Chinese festivals but also gain a deeper understanding of the rich heritage and cultural significance behind these celebrations.

Each session will allow students to immerse themselves in the traditions and history of events. They’ll express their creativity through hands-on crafts, learn traditional songs and poems, and listen to captivating stories that bring the culture to life. This class offers a fun and interactive way for children to appreciate and connect with the richness of Chinese culture while expanding their global awareness.

Chess (Grades 3-5)

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced player, this class offers something for everyone. Art Exploration (Grades 3-5)

After School Art where YOU are an ARTIST! Students will explore the creative process, develop their artistic skills, and experiment with a variety of supplies through engaging projects. There is a focus on student creativity, mindfulness, and the power of art.



Keyboard Ensemble (Grades 1-5)

Interested in “tickling the ivories” and the opportunity to play on IPAʻs grand piano? Our students will be introduced to basic keyboard skills of ear training, note reading, rhythm, and music theory. Students will require at least a 60+, full-sized key keyboard (each key is the same size as the standard, acoustic piano key) as home practice is a requirement. Grades 1-2 will start on the classroom keyboards while Grades 3-5 will work on basic theory lessons and the groups will switch. Students will be asked to purchase a lesson and theory piano book. This program is designed to be ongoing and for beginners.

Crafty Kids (Grades K-1)

In our crafty kids class for kindergarten and 1st graders, children will develop essential skills like cutting with scissors, coloring, and painting, all while unleashing their creativity. Dance Basics (Grades 2-5)

In our Dance Basics enrichment class, students will explore the fundamentals of jazz and ballet, focusing on basic dance steps, essential techniques, and proper terminology. Through fun and engaging lessons, students will learn key positions, steps, and routines while developing coordination, flexibility, and rhythm. The class will also emphasize the importance of understanding dance terminology, helping students build confidence and fluency in their movements. Whether new to dance or looking to refine their skills, this class offers a supportive environment where students can express themselves through movement and grow as dancers.



Creative Calligraphy (Grades 5-12)

Explore the art of beautiful lettering in our Creative Calligraphy class! This engaging workshop is perfect for beginners and those with some experience, helping students develop their unique style using contemporary techniques. The class emphasizes creativity and self-expression in a relaxed environment, allowing students to thrive as they complete personalized projects such as cards, posters, and art pieces. Keys to the Castle (Grades 6-8)

Unlock the secrets of ancient castles in this thrilling after-school class! In Keys to the Castle, students will explore the science behind the powerful tools that were essential for building and defending castles. Through hands-on activities, they’ll learn about force, mass, and acceleration—the “keys” to understanding how these medieval machines worked. From designing catapults to creating other fascinating structures, students will build and safely use replicas of the tools used in historical castle construction and defense. Along the way, they’ll experience science in action, discovering how physics played a crucial role in the world of castles. Get ready for a journey where science meets history in the most exciting way!

Creative Drama (Grades K-1)

Book Nook: Crafting Literacy Worlds (Grades 4-5)
