Local Solar Company Alternate Energy Supports IPA Annual Fund with $5000 Gift

Alternate Energy, a locally-owned Hawaii solar company, donated $5,000 to Island Pacific Academy this week; on-hand to present the school with the check was IPA parent Amy Soares who is an Alternate Energy employee.  IPA will add the gift to this year’s Annual Fund.

Soares, whose two sons attend IPA, is thrilled that her employer was supporting their school again this year. This is the second year that Alternate Energy has made a $5000 gift to IPA.  “Alternate Energy is a third-generation family business. They are very supportive of their employees and the causes that are important to them–especially education,” she says.  In addition to the donations given to IPA, Alternate Energy has helped other schools, offers college scholarships, and supports many non-profits such as:

“Gifts to our Annual Fund are so important,” says Gerald Teramae, Head of School.  “Usually gifts to the Annual Fund are unrestricted which means we can use the funds right away to enhance and strengthen our programs like art, science, STEM, athletics and music. Funds can also be used to support our faculty and staff with salaries, technology, and professional development opportunities.  Every dollar to the Annual Fund helps every student at IPA.”

Mahalo, Alternate Energy!
