Alumna Who Played One of Disney’s Most Famous Villains Gives Back

It has been nearly a decade since Cierra Cobb ‘15 graduated and her return to Island Pacific Academy is in part to the magic of Disney and sheer talent! Her journey after graduating has been a whirlwind—much like the Mad Tea Party ride, full of exciting twists and turns.

It all began in May 2016 with a Disney Sales and Merchandising internship, which she calls “the longest summer internship ever.” Now, she works in marketing for Disney Vacation Club, helping to open new resorts like The Villas at Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Riviera Resort. She also engages guests through cultural activities during Mahina ‘Ōlelo Hawaiʻi, that includes lei making, hula, and ukulele classes, reflecting Disney’s commitment to sharing Hawaiian traditions.

Beyond her role, Cobb helps organize Make-A-Wish events and toy drives for Kapiʻolani Women’s & Children’s Hospital. She also assists with Disney’s SALUTE program, which supports veterans and their families—a cause close to her heart as the daughter of a former U.S. Marine.

Cobb credits her success to the unwavering support of her former theater teacher, Brandi Dul. “Ms. Dul reminded me that rejection is just a redirect. I carry her wisdom into my job every day, and when I train new hires, I remember how kind and considerate she was with me,” Cobb shared.

Reflecting on her time at IPA, Cobb noted that the school helped her develop confidence and quick thinking—skills essential to her career. Despite her busy schedule, she was eager to mentor Braxtyn Montalbo ’26, who landed the role of Ursula in this year’s production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid JR.—the very role Cobb played in 2015.

“It’s not easy to play a villain—it takes conviction, and Cierra had that,” said Dul. “I knew she could help Braxtyn grow as an actress.”

Montalbo expressed gratitude for Cobb’s guidance. “I struggled with confidence. I knew my lines, but my performance felt empty. Cierra helped me bring Ursula to life,” she said.

“Sometimes all we need is a confidence boost, someone in our corner. That personal support makes all the difference—it certainly did for me.” said Cobb.

As for Montalbo’s performance? “She’s incredible—so much better than I was,” Cobb added. “She has the voice of an angel, and I can’t wait to see her shine.”
