Back again at Grand Expedition: Wine Pull
IPA will be conducting a “wine pull” during the Grand Expedition!
Here’s how it works: Attendees at Grand Expedition will be able to purchase bottles (750ml bottles) of red or white wine at a “buy it now” price of $25 each until the stock is gone. At the end of the evening, buyers will be able to “pull” their bottles from the “wine cellar.” All bottles will be wrapped, so it will a “wine mystery bottle” of sorts, however, all bottles will have a minimum wine rating of 85 and there will be several premium bottles ($50-$100 value) among the wrapped bottles. Chef Donato Loperfido started Flavors of Italy, LCC, in 2005 as a way to bring niche Italian and European wines “offering a sense of place and passion” to Hawaii. An importer and distributor of fine European wines, beers, and specialty selected gourmet foods, Flavors of Italy will also be hosting the VIP reception at Grand Expedition. Loperfido’s twin daughters, Alessia and Isabella, are in grade 6.
A selection of premium wines will also be in the wine pull. All bottles will be wrapped so each wine pull purchase, other than knowing “red” or “white” will be a mystery until the end of the night. The premium wines shown above are provided by J n J Food and Beverage.
IPA alumni parent, Nathan Yuen, has generously seeded the Wine Pull cellar each year. Daughter Alyssa Yuen (’15) attends Creighton University and Ezri Yuen (’16) has plans to take on a pre-med track in college.
