IPA Tradition Connects Seniors of All Ages

On April 27, 2025, Island Pacific Academy celebrated one of its most beloved traditions — the Senior to Senior Prom — bringing together our graduating seniors and the cherished residents of ʻIlima at Leihano for an evening filled with joy, laughter, and heartfelt connection.

First launched in 2017, this intergenerational event has continued year after year, with the exception of a brief pause during the pandemic. The tradition remains a highlight for both IPA seniors and the kupuna of ‘Ilima, offering a special opportunity to connect across generations.

Students from IPA’s Class of 2025 arrived in full prom attire, greeting residents with warm smiles and presenting each with a single red rose — a simple yet meaningful gesture that set the tone for a night of celebration.

Held at ‘Ilima at Leihano, the event sparkled with thoughtful details and shared delight. There were red carpet arrivals, dessert tastings, a photo booth, games, and a packed dance floor.

The highlight of the night? Mr. and Mrs. Isakson, crowned Prom King and Queen, who lit up the room with their charm and grace. Married for 67 years, their enduring love was an inspiration to all and a beautiful reminder of the bonds that transcend age.

This annual tradition is more than just a prom — it’s a celebration of kindness, community, and the simple joy of spending time together. Our Navigator seniors didn’t just bring the party — they brought heart.

Mahalo to the dedicated staff at ʻIlima, our senior class advisors, and all those who made this fairy tale evening possible. Special thanks as well to MidWeek West Oʻahu Voice, Island News on KITV and KIKU, and Go Kapolei for helping share the story of this unforgettable night.

These shared moments across generations serve as a meaningful reminder of the lasting impact of kindness, generosity, and coming together as a community.
