The Navigator Credit Union is open again! After being forced to close for the past year and a half due to the pandemic, the credit union celebrated its re-opening on December 2, 2021 with balloons, banners, and much excitement.
ISLAND PACIFIC ACADEMY’s Navigator Credit Union first opened its doors in 2017, and is the first elementary school-run credit union in the state that partners with HawaiiUSA Federal Credit Union. The credit union is an integral part of the Grade 4 curriculum, and students run all of the banking operations, with the generous help and support of HawaiiUSA Federal Credit Union staff who are on-hand during business hours.
Each week, four or five Grade 4 students are assigned to work in the credit union in one of four positions – Branch Specialist, Greeter, Marketing Specialist, or Service Specialist. The students working the re-opening last Thursday were so excited to welcome their new and returning members, swarming the first customers of the morning as they entered the credit union door. The Grade 4 students were able to help open a new account for a Kindergartener, and completed deposits for two current members, including music teacher, Mrs. Babas.
The Navigator Credit Union is open every Thursday morning from 7:30 AM – 8:15 AM in the Elementary building, and IPA families are welcome to stop in to open new accounts and make deposits. This year, Navigator Credit Union is offering a new incentive program – make 12 deposits into your personal HawaiiUSA FCU account at the Navigator Credit Union and on your 12th visit, the Navigator Credit Union will contribute $5 to your account!
Island Pacific Academy extends a very special thank you to the staff at HawaiiUSA FCU for all of their support, and welcomes our community to take advantage of this unique on-campus banking opportunity.
(Please see IPA’s Visitors’ and Guests’ Policy for entering campus).
