The Navigator Yearbook Earns Prestigious ‘First Class’ Recognition

We are thrilled to announce that the 2024–2025 edition of The Navigator, Volume 20 – ISLAND PACIFIC ACADEMY’s yearbook – has earned a First Class rating from the National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA), receiving an impressive 405 points.

The NSPA critique service evaluates yearbooks across five key areas: Essentials, Coverage, Writing and Editing, Design, and Photography. We are especially proud that The Navigator earned the highest scores in Essentials, Coverage, and Photography—a testament to the hard work and dedication of our student staff.

An NSPA judge highlighted the creativity of the yearbook team, stating, “Enjoyed the theme designs offered on the opening and dividers. The presentation of the color insert bordered by gold on top of the blurred black and white photo was not only eye-catching but showed creativity on the part of the staff.”

The 168-page volume, titled “Captured Moments,” was led by Editor-in-Chief Eduardo Cua III ‘25 under the guidance of yearbook advisor Cassandra Pasion. From compelling photography to thoughtful coverage of student life, the team captured the spirit and energy of our school community on every page.

“This recognition is a celebration of the yearbook staff’s hard work,” shared Pasion. “It acknowledges their excellence in content and design, with strong photography, writing, and coverage – it shows that our students have the caliber to produce a top-tier, high quality publication. It’s been an honor to see my students create a book they are truly proud of.”
