IPA Exclusives in Live Auction

The live auction at Island Pacific Academy’s Grand Expedition is always exciting and competition gets especially fierce when items exclusive to the school are up for bid.  Three items offering an IPA student a unique opportunity are: Head of School for the Day, Name on the Lane, and a Reserved Parking Spot for the Year.  Each of these items usually sells for hundreds of dollars and in some years one of more has had a winning bid in the thousands of dollars.

The student Head of School for the Day spends an entire school day working side by side with the actual Head of School.

Grand Expedition 2015 Live Auction item Head of School for the Day
During her “Head of School for the Day” experience grade 4 student, Maya, presides over a meeting in the Head of School’s office about dress code for the upcoming Junior/Senior Prom.

What happens behind the scenes, during meetings, and in the offices at IPA during a typical day? The Head of School for the Day student spends the day with a very full itinerary that can include: presiding over student assemblies, attending and running scheduled meetings, making phone calls to constituents, having lunch with one or more department heads, touring the campus grounds, visiting classrooms and observing teaching across the grades, weighing in on important decisions, and lending a unique perspective on future plans of the school.

Grand Expedition 2015 Live Auction item Name the Lane
Imagine a place where the streets have your name…that is the reward for the winning bidder of the “Name on the Lane” in the Grand Expedition live auction.

Another popular family item in the Grand Expedition Live Auction is the opportunity to put a “name on the lane.” The winning bidder on this auction item has their family or student name placed on a real double-sided street sign temporarily “naming” the fire lane for the school year.  At the end of the school year, the sign is kept by the family or student as a colorful and fun memento.

Parking on or near the IPA campus is at a premium even as the city of Kapolei continues to grow and expand. Having a reserved on-campus parking spot could make a world of difference, especially for a graduating senior.

Grand Expedition 2015 Live Auction item reserved parking spot at IPA
Two IPA seniors each had a coveted parking space on campus thanks to their families being the winning bidders on the “Parking Spot for the Year” in the live auction.

Bidding for the “Reserved Parking spot for the year” grew so heated at Grand Expedition 2015, that the auctioneer decided on the spot to “split” the item, offering a chance for both the high bidder and next highest bidder to take advantage of the winning sales price. Each student will take home their commemorative reserved parking sign at the end of the school year.

These special IPA exclusive items are just some of the unique and one-of-a-kind finds in the Grand Expedition live auction.  We encourage you to visit the event website to see other silent and live auction items such as a custom-shaped and designed surfboard and an exclusive stay for 6 people at the Four Seasons Resort, O’ahu at Ko Olina that will be up for bid on Saturday, February 13, 2016.
