Island Pacific Academy’s Navigator Robotics VEX IQ middle school team members competed in the TMT West Hawaii VEX IQ Robotics Tournament at Waikoloa Elementary and Middle School and did it again.
Accompanied by IPA secondary division technology teacher and robotics instructor, Weyland Bailey, six students competed as three two-person teams on the Big Island of Hawaii during last Saturday’s tournament. At the conclusion, Navigator Robotics teams 4442B and 4442D earned six trophies, a world record Robot Skills score and a spot at the Hawaii State championships to be held at the Hawaii Convention Center next year. All five of IPA’s VEX IQ teams have been invited to compete in the state championships in February.
“These kids compete with such passion,” says IPA robotics instructor, Weyland Bailey. In photo above: W. Bailey, W. Angel (’22), M. Mizon (’22), W. Cullison (’21), T. Horita (’22), J. Kuakini (’21), N. Okimoto (’22), K. Okimoto in front of Waikoloa School on the Big Island.
