Ryder Obrero-Ueno ’26 Wins Silver at ILH Golf Championship, Advances to States

Congratulations to Ryder Obrero-Ueno ’26, who earned the silver medal with his second-place finish in the ILH Boys Varsity Golf Championship! Competing against a strong field of athletes from across the league, Ryder delivered an impressive performance to secure his spot at the HHSAA State Tournament on Hawai‘i Island next week.

“It feels amazing being able to compete against so many different schools and so many great golfers,” Ryder shared. His journey to this moment was fueled by countless hours of practice and a mindset grounded in perseverance. “This season definitely felt easier compared to last year, especially because I put more work in so that I could prepare myself for this one,” he said. “I had my ups and downs, but I was able to overcome them due to perseverance and faith in my coach.”

Ryder’s dedication is a shining example of our core value of commitment to excellence. He also credited his success to the strong support system around him. “I’d like to give a big thanks to my family, Coach Kellen, and Coach Matt for really helping me get to where I am. Thank you to my mom, who has done so much for me by allowing me to do so many tournaments and has given me so many opportunities to improve. And thank you to my grandpa, who brought me into the idea of playing golf – if it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t even be here.”

Ryder will be joined at the state tournament by teammate Connor Koyano ’25 and alternate Tristan Bedford ’26. We’re proud of our Navigators and look forward to cheering them on as they represent our school at the next level!
