The 2017-2018 school year has begun! Today ISLAND PACIFIC ACADEMY was excited to welcome its faculty and staff back to campus after a long and relaxing summer break. New faculty members had a chance to get acquainted, and returning faculty got to catch up with each other and share their summer adventures over a relaxing breakfast in the MPR.
IPA has added a number of exceptional new faculty members to both the elementary and secondary schools, including new Secondary Principal, Mr. Steven Caley. Amazingly, two of our new faculty members are IPA alumni who are proud to be able to return to their alma mater to give back to the school. Jordan Hanson (‘12) will be joining the secondary faculty as an English teacher, having just completed her Master’s of Fine Art degree in creative writing from Sarah Lawrence College. Caitlin Arde (‘11), whom you may recognize from the IPA after-school enrichment program, will be joining the elementary faculty as a Grade 1 Aide.
Following breakfast, the new faculty and staff attended a special training session led by Mr. Steve Ross, Elementary Principal, and Mrs. Michelle Bradley, Secondary Vice Principal, while returning faculty spent the morning getting their classrooms prepared for their students, who return to campus on Wednesday, August 16.
The busy morning was followed by a special made-to-order sushi and tempura lunch catered by Superb Sushi, and an afternoon of teambuilding fun with “Room with a Clue.” The next two weeks will be busy ones for the faculty as they attend training workshops, work on curriculum, and continue to prepare their classrooms for the start of the new year.
Welcome back to all our faculty – we’re looking forward to a fabulous year together!
