After School Enrichment: New Class added MinecraftEDU

Island Pacific Academy’s After School Enrichment program is adding a new class which is sure to be a hit with Minecraft fans of all ages: Minecraft EDU.

MINECRAFT for ASE
The pixelated green and brown cube is instantly recognizable as a minecraft object.

Minecraft is a “sandbox virtual world” offering opportunities for students to create simulations of places, events, and concepts.  MinecraftEDU is a customized version of Minecraft designed for the school environment for students to address social studies and math in a creative and collaborative environment. MincraftEDU is the perfect outlet for students to be creative, find multiple solutions and learn cooperation.  (from https://minecraftedu.com)

IPA’s After School Enrichment courses for grades K-5 are the perfect way for students to learn a new skill, delve deeper into an area of interest, or challenge themselves by exploring a subject outside their “comfort zone.”  Interesting and fun activities in each course encourage students to use and build upon their growing knowledge base.  Students can select one or more courses to create a schedule that suits their needs and fulfills their passion for learning.

Minecraft EDU will be taught by Austin Wandasan on Thursdays from 3:15-4:15pm for students in grades 4 and 5.  The class will be limited to 10 students and will start during the last week of January 2016.
