On Saturday, March 5 an IPA shooter did what has NEVER been done before in the ILH.
Just a few days before, on Thursday, March 3, IPA sophomore Alyssa Okimoto was ranked #21 in the ILH for Varsity Precision Riflery. She was the first alternate for the ILH championships and only the top 20 in the league get to compete. On Friday, one competitor declined the berth because she was going to be out of town so Alyssa moved up to number 20.
The next day, Saturday, at the competition at Mid Pacific, Alyssa unpacked her A game and bested the entire field in the qualification round, shooting a 379 out of 400 points to take first place and earn one of only 8 spots in the final round.
In the finals Alyssa shot a 98 out of 100 to take the championship by .1 point!! Congratulations Alyssa!!
Also, sophomore Jordan Carrancho competed today in the ILH individual Championships for JV Precision Riflery and took home a medal for 5th place!
IPA Precision Rifle Teammates Carrancho (’18) and Okimoto (’18) were awarded ILH medals for their performances on Saturday March 5, 2016.
