School dances are a rite of passage for both middle and high school grade students at Island Pacific Academy; at the first Middle School Dance of the 2015-2016 year the theme was Halloween.
Middle school students attend the Halloween dance wearing sugarskull make-up.
Students in grades six through eight enjoyed a fun evening in the multi-purpose room (MPR) among friends. Some creative costumes were pirates, athletes, or characters from movies and novels. A few students showed off impressive make-up technique and came wearing sugarskull faces, a sight growing more common as people all over the world have begun to include Mexico’s observation of Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) with Halloween celebrations.
Sixth grade students enjoy their first middle school dance.
IPA hopes everyone in our community had a safe and happy Halloween and enjoyed the week of Fall Break. See everyone back at school tomorrow, Monday, November 2.
