Club Fest Showcases IPA Clubs

Every fall Island Pacific Academy’s high school grades host a “Club Fest” showcasing the many societies, organizations, and clubs on campus that add variety and vigor to student life.  The Club Fest is open to students, parents, and teachers from all grades to enjoy.

A young student fishes for slippers at the S.L.I.P.A. station during Club Fest.

Each student group had a game, activity, or even a food related to the interests of their club or organization.   Many of the activities were free while others had a small fee to help the groups cover costs or raise funds.   At the Math League table you could buy a slice of pie or try to win a pie by being the person able to recite the most digits of the number pi.

2015 Club Fest Tie Dye
Tie-dye in progress at the National Arts Honor Society area of Club Fest.

Some students brought their own item or bought a t-shirt and had a member of the National Arts Honor Society dip a tie-dye creation on the spot.  For those with a little patience, henna tattoos were also available.  Members from the Science Olympiad team had homemade “lava lamps” for sale.   The Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica sold out of nachos in minutes and had a green screen photo area and props.  The Japanese National Honor Society had sushi, spam musubi, and fermented beans (free) for the daring to try.

In October there will be a “Club Fair” held over several days during high school lunch.  During the fair, student groups will recruit new members as they share information about their club or organization with interested students.
